More Foamy Maddness

Since I'm blocked from going to illwillpress.com at work, I had to go find a different site to get my Foamy Fix while I'm at the office. I went to friendsoffoamy.com and they have ALL of the episodes. How freakin cool is that? That squirrel cracks me up!!

They finally fixed it...... well mostly

After about 4 months, Verizon Wireless has gotten my phone bill right. Back in late June, I got a Treo 650 PDA/Cell Phone and I got a phone and data plan. This makes my cell phone bill pretty high all on its own but Verizon hit me with a HUGE billing error, like almost $800 for going over my data useage. After calling customer service about 4 times over the past 4 months, they finally reversed the charges. Now the only thing I have to get them to do is reverse the charges for all the late fees I incurred. I still payed my bill on time, but I only paid the charges I truely owed. I'm not paying late fees on almost $800 that was wrongfully billed to me. Thats just horse crap right there! Hopefully they'll reverse those charges in the next couple of days and I can get to my regular billing cycle again.

It's still working!

Praise be to the Scat Mat! I heard my older cat meowing a little this morning but not nearly as much as he used to when he could just sit at my door and try and get me to come outside. Ahhh what a peaceful sleep I had.

On the Ninja Gaiden note, I'm about half way through level 15. I cheated and went on GameSpot and read the game guide to figure out where I was. Maybe by this weekend I'll be able to get through level 15 and on to the final level for some serious ass whoopin booyah!!

All hail the Scat Mat!

For those of you that know me, you know I have two cats. My older cat Thumper I've had for almost a year longer than my younger cat Nala. Since I basically raised Thumper, he identifies me as his primary playmate a lot of the time (especially at night). He recently took up scratching my bedroom door at night and I've tried a lot of ways to stop it. Spraying him seemed to not work, putting double sided tape didn't do any good either, and locking him in the bathroom or cat carrier wasn't very nice either since it restricted his freedom. So I looked around and found the Scat Mat. Some people might think its cruel but it only restricts him from scratching my bedroom door. What it is, is a shock mat. It just gives him a slight jolt, like static electricity to keep him away from the door. I tried it for the first time last night and it seems to be working so far. He hasn't meowed or attempted to scratch the door. I did find him this morning resting just beyond the mat. Nala seems to be steering very far from the mat, she probably got shocked sometime last night as well and knows to stay away. Hopefully it will keep on working and I'll get a good nights sleep :)

New Rochelle Humane Society Trip

This past weekend while I was home I went to the New Rochelle Humane Society with my friend Lucy. Lucy wants to get a cat but somehow couldn't get to the humane society so I decided to "make" her go. There were tons of cats there up for adoption but there weren't too many kittens. We saw one that she liked but it escaped from its cage when we opened it and hid under the cages so it was hard to determine if it was very friendly or not.

One of the funnier things that happened were two black cats that were outside when we were leaving. These two were just hanging around and not doing anything in particular. Lucy yells at them to turn around and they actually did it which surprised me. I went up to one and told it to sit and lo and behold it sat down. Those little buggers were pretty smart. Too bad they were having a grand old time afterwards rolling around in the dirt. Hurry up and get your damn cat Lucy!! That deer skin in your basement is the perfect scratching post :P

WTF

For the first time since I can remember, I actually missed a flight. I was on a 4:55 flight home and I missed it because of traffic!!! First there was nasty traffic on the Hutch all because people were watching someone on the other side of the road change their freakin tire. Thats just bullshit right there. Then, after getting over the Whitestone, there was a rediculous amount of traffic going towards JFK airport. Most of the traffic that caused the "Heavy Delay" was because people were going to the Bruckner Expressway. Whoever designed the route to JFK must have been totally retarded or something. Next time I'm leaving at least three hours before departure if I'm flying out of NY.

Dim Sum Trip

Today I went to Hartsdale NY to get some dim sum from one of my favorite chinese place. It has been quite a long time asince I've had good chinese let alone dim sum. Now there is a reason right there to go back to the North East.

The trip to Hartsdale was pretty cool. The trees are really colorful going down the Merrit Parkway. As much as I like it here, it would be difficult to come back because everything is so expensive. At least I still have the option to visit every once in a while. Tomorrow I'm going cat shopping with my italiano cousin Lucy (shes not my real cousin but she made me an honorary italian and her cousin haha) and I'm going to have dinner with the best man (Tiny) and maid of honor (Jazzy) from my wedding. Sunday I shall return home to my wonderful wife and evil cats.

Sleeping In

I'm at my mom's house till Sunday and this morning was the first time that slept in past 8am. Even when I didn't have my two cats I was never able to sleep in really without waking up early. It must be something about sleeping in my old bed or something. Anyway, I'm freezing my nuts off in CT because of the after effects of hurricane Wilma bringing in a nice cold front from Canada. BRRR......

Bring on the sunshine

Hurricane Wilma has finally finished kicking Floida's ass and has gone back to being a Category 3 hurricane out in the Atlantic. Just by watching it on the radar I can tell that I'm in for a really wet time up in CT since it'll be lingering off the coast of NY or so by the time I get there. On the bright side though, not only did I not have work, now its really really sunny outside. Of course I have nothing to do that would entail me actually going outside so I'm going to stay in and finish creating backups for my computer and what not. Doesn't that sound absolutely exciting? I might break down and finish a level of Ninja Gaiden later on. It's already 4pm! Hopefully tomorrow won't be too busy so I can relax. Thanks for the day off Wilma!

Welcome to Floriduh Hurricane Wilma!!

Hurricane Wilma actually came to Florida (South Florida though, I'm in West) so the most that I'm getting right now are a lot of tornado warnings, maybe some storm surge, and tropical storm force winds but other than that I'm pretty much OK. I get to stay home today since the office is closed but I do have to work from home while I'm here so that means I have to fire up my laptop and do some *snicker* work. My wife wasn't as lucky though, her pea brained bosses had their employees come into work even though all the government offices are closed down, there's no shipping leaving the city, and all the schools are closed. These people are just way too greedy. I would take great delight in watching their company burn up in smoke but I guess that won't be happening anytime soon. I'm probably heading to work tomorrow but thats alright, at least I got today off :)

Thank you Wilma!

Thanks to the lovely category 2 hurricane bearing down on Florida, I don't have to go to work tomorrow. I do however have to work from home but it beats going to the office any day. Bring it on bitch!! I'm here in Tampa waiting for ya!! :P

Cool Wilma Picture

I got this image from Accuweather. I think its one of the best pics I've ever gotten of a storm. Check out where the eye is on this bad boy, its freakin HUGE! This is going to be one crazy storm when it swings over to Florida. Posted by Picasa

Preparing for a hurricane

Since I postponed my trip to CT to see my mom, I went out with my wife last night to get some supplies. We headed over to our super market which wasn't even that busy to pick up snack food and what not (basically things that will keep till next year). There was plenty of it left on the shelves which surprised me. Then we went to the drink aisle and there was basically no water left on the shelves. HA! The whole store is packed with food but all the water supplies and parmalat milk just vanished. No big deal, I have a filter on my tap at home and have lots of containers to fill with water.

Next stop was Sports Authority. Last year we were fortunate enough to not lose power. Right now the hurricane isn't even projected to come close to Tampa but you never know until the day before so we bought a camping stove with two burners on it. Now I think I'm all set. I'm not too worried about flooding of my apartment because I'm on the 3rd floor, I'm more worried about my car being washed away or something like that.

You gotta be freakin kidding me!! Another Hurricane!

This is a lovely picture of Hurricane Wilma. You can't really see it but right now its off the coast of Mexico but all the strike probablilities show it heading towards Florida in the next few days. Here's the freakin problem, I'm not even going to be here when the hurricane strikes and right now its a Category 5 with 175mph winds. Thats just crazy right there!!

Update: I'm not leaving town after all, I'll go on vacation next week instead and stay here with my wife until the hurricane blows over. I guess its time to stock up the fridge with tons of non perishable stuff again and get some gas for the car......... mmmmmm SPAM!

Going back to CT

Wednesday night I shall be making my return to CT for my mom's birthday. I'm only going to be around till Sunday afternoon but that should be enough time spent up north. I probably won't be able to see any of my friends that I have up there but I can catch them on another trip up to CT since my sister in law is getting married sometime in January. I'm going to try and get my wife's digital camera so that I can take pics while I'm up there. Yay fall leaves!!

The evil door scratcher

My older cat Thumper has recently taken up door scratching as a new method of annoying me in the mornings. He started doing this after I returned from LA. Where he picked this up I have no idea since he never used to do it before. I have had to resort to putting him in the bathroom at night so he won't wake up me and my wife in the mornings with the scratching. However he is consistant, he normally starts his scratching around 7am unless he happens to be really bored, then he tries it around 2am.

Ninja Gaiden Maddness

I've started playing Ninja Gaiden again for Xbox in the hopes that I can beat it in the next couple of weeks. I played it again for the first time in months just yesterday and I really had to get back into the swing of things. I totally forgot how most of the controls worked and since I was in one of the later levels I was getting my butt kicked pretty hard. After practicing for about 30 minutes I figured out how to whoop at least a little butt again with some obvious help called NINJA MAGIC!! I killed the level 12 boss with nothing but Lightning Ninja Magic rather than the tried and true hack and slash. I'm getting better as I play and I might even play more tonight but we'll see.

Halo 2 is DONE!

Yeah baby! I just beat Halo 2 for Xbox so now I can start working on yet another game of mine. Probably Ninja Gaiden although that game is super ass tough and I havn't even touched it in months. Hopefully I won't get my ass kicked or anything. Damn it feels good to ifnall y beat that game.

Talk about cheap pictures

I'm heading up to my mom's place next week and she requested pictures from my wedding. I decided to give Walgreens.com a try since I remember seeing something about uploading pics to them and then having the ability to print them out at a local Walgreens and pick them up. I tried it today and I have to say that it was pretty painless and was relatively fast. Not to mention they were only charging $0.19 a print and because it was my first time using them I got 10 prints for free. Now thats what I call kick ass. All in all, I only had to spend less than five bucks. You can bet I'm gonna print pics from them again.

I'm done with Jade Empire!

I finally beat the RPG game Jade Empire for Xbox today while I was home telecommuting for work. It only took me an extra half hour to whoop some ass and actually defeat the game which was pretty good. I think I got back into it because of the show Firefly which has a slightly asian theme to the show and the characters sometimes speak Chinese (this kind of bothers me but its on syndication so its not on all that often). With the release of the Xbox 360, I feel this urge to finish a few more of my games now. I still have a few more things to beat in Burnout Legends, Halo 2, and Ninja Gaiden. These are the main games that I would like to beat but if I have time I might play others like whats on my GameCube.

Winamp 5.1

For all you old school MP3 collectors out there, I'm sure most of you remember Winamp or maybe even use Winamp. I remember getting hold of Winamp when I was in college and it was the best MP3 player ever (still is although I have to use MediaMonkey to sync songs to my iPod). I still use it at home to listen to music and even use it here at work. I was slightly disappointed when Nullsoft (thats who made Winamp way back when) was bought up by AOHell and then sorta dropped by the wayside after they completed 5.0. There have been numerous bug releases and stuff but it wasn't worth the upgrade. However they have released 5.1 and now they actually have live streaming audio from AOL XM radio which is really cool. I normally listen to ShoutCast stations at work but this adds a ton more stations for me to listen to. I might try and experiment with the iPod plugin for Winamp one of these days if they work out some of the bugs.

For those of you that are REALLY old school, you might remember a little app called WinPlay, now thats taking MP3's truely old school for those of you that downloaded music in '96 hahaha

The internet is so boring

I've been on the net for a while now and I've come to realize that a lot of the free stuff thats on the net is pretty boring. I remember hooking up my 486 to a 19.2 modem and firing that bad boy up to get email using Netscape 3.0 and surfing the web too. I hit a few sites daily like the NY Times and CNN (CNN hasn't changed much since 1996). I have more email accounts scattered on the web than I can even remember but some things have stayed constant like my Screen Names and one of my email addresses. Other than that, the net is just really really boring........... there's only so much news that you can read or emails you can write............ blah!

Leftovers for Lunch

Today I ate my lunch in 11 minutes. Not a record for me but thats still pretty fast considering I normally get an hour or so for lunch but I also eat at my desk so its a "working" lunch. Todays lunch was pretty good, it was left overs from dinner last night that my wife made for us. Chicken tenders with tabasco sauce and mashed potatos. The thing thats missing, which was included in last nights meal, was the corn on the cob. My wife makes corn on the cob SO GOOD! She adds the right amount of butter, salt, and pepper which makes it almost irresistable that I always end up wanting more but she limits us to one a piece. Topping off the lunch is my Arizona Ice tea with Raspberry flavor added. She brought me candy from her job but I forgot to pack it so no afternoon snack for me. Too bad, they were NERDS!! Now I just have to go through the rest of the day and then go home and relax and update my iPod with some new songs. *yawn*

I have my new hard drive!!

Yesterday I finally got back a hard drive from Seagate. It's a refurbished drive but it works and thats what really matters. I noticed that the drive actually came all the way from Singapore which is a bit far. I completed the extremely fun task of moving all my data from my primary hard drive to my storage drive. My primary was a 60 gig drive and only had 6 gigs free and was running like there was peanut butter stuck in between the drive plates. After I moved it over to the 160 gig storage drive, my PC began running like a champ again :)

Disappointing

Well this year the Yankees lost in the Division series and not the championship series. I guess I can be happy that they made the playoffs at all with the terrible record they accumulated during the regular season. Since the Yankee's are out of the running, my time with baseball this year is at an end. I guess no Mariano Rivera jersey for me this year. I don't think I'll get another jersey until they win another world series.

All tied up!

The Yankees were able to tie up the ALCS with the Angels last night so tonight everyone flies out to LA to duke it out for the right to kick some White Sox ass. Mike Mussina will take the mound tonight and if the Yankee bats wake up early, it should be a nice victory into the AL championship series. Winning the world series this year would be absolutely awesome and maybe I'll treat myself to a new jersey or something :)

Yankee Game Tonight, ALCS Game 4

Tonight the Angels are playing the Yankees in Game 4 and the Yankee's are facing elimination. The only satisfying fact in the event that the Yankee's lose is that Boston lost first and got swept badly. Right now the Yankee's have a fighting chance so I'm going to cheer for them while I watch the Soprano's on DVD. Go Yankees!!

Red Sox Lose!

Last year was just a fluke, the Bambino is back in full effect as the Red Sox lose to the White Sox. Now its NY's chance to get back the world series crown, their first since 2000. To read all about it, go here!

I'd blog but........

my week was so "ordinary" that I have nothing to blog about, how freakin sad is that?!?

MMMM Marble Slab

My wife and I got a quart of cheesecake ice cream with strawberries (my favorite from that place) and I had some last night and it was soooo good. The strawberries were a bit hard but thats alright. Still, the place is freakin awesome, I should open my own with wifi access and make a ton of money and retire by 35.

X05

So what exactly is X05?? Why its only the MS Xbox 2005 game convention that Microsoft holds to show off all thats new and bad ass on the Xbox front. I read a lot of stuff on Gamespot.com and they always have good coverage. I'm in the market for a new 360 and this conference should shed light on a ton of new games and the launch titles. Can't wait to see the screen shots and movies that will come out of this booyah!!

Firefly

My wife and I are now hooked on this show after seeing the movie Serenity. It's a pretty damn good show. Too bad there were only a few episodes made for it before it was canceled. I don't think this show can make a comeback like Family Guy did but you never know. I would tell you which characters probably wouldn't be back on the show but then I'd ruin the movie for those of you that want to see it. And I do recommend seeing it, its too funny in some spots.

Already a bad start

This morning I got off to a bad start. I was in traffic for almost an hour and there was no reason for it. From the moment I hit the Home Depot near my apartment, I was doing around 10mph in stop and go traffic. That is just totally un-acceptable in my book especially when I have a history of going at least 40 with a free sprints of 60 as I get closer to work. Nope not today, not even an accident to justify people going hella slow. This better not be an omen of how the rest of today is going to go or else I'm gonna be so pissed.

Serenity

I just saw the movie Serenity this weekend and I have to say that it was quite good. It was pretty funny and it kept my wife's interest which surprised me since this is a scifi movie and she normally doesn't like this kind of stuff. This movie basically wraps up the TV series Firefly which I have Tivo'd but haven't watched yet. I'll watch those at some point this week.

Tomorrow is another day of work.......... oh yay!

Nerf balls are not cheap

I'm sure the title seems kind of cryptic but you'll have to read my little story first. My younger cat Nala decided that my nerf football was a chew toy about a week ago and pieces of it were missing. I found some here and there around the apartment and figured she just bit off pieces. Well this week I found out she ate some of it and started throwing up every few hours which is really gross when you have carpet. I took her to the vet today (not cheap!!) to get her x-rayed to make sure she's alright. They gave her a sedative and threw her around like a lump of meat (I didn't witness this, I'm just assuming here). Anyway, I have her back now and she has to take some pills for the next week or so but yeah, thats why nerf balls are not cheap in my house hold, some kitty always ends up going to the vet!

Cafeteria Food

No matter what cafeteria I go to, the food is ALWAYS nasty. Today I forogt to bring a container to heat up my lunch so I had to go to the cafe to get some. I chose the special thinking it would be alright. Yellow rice and black grouper. I mean it can't be that hard to make right? Well the fish if tough and tastes kinda funny so I'm not going to speculate on it and the rice is TASTELESS. I eat a lot of rice being an asian and this is one of the first times that I can say that rice disgusts me. Why can't cafeteria food be somewhat decent and not gross and expensive? Bleh!

Diesel vs Hybrid

With the rising gas prices, I decided to check out some of the new hybrids and diesels that have been coming out recently from some of the automakers. I have to say that these puppies are expensive. I looked at Honda, VW, Mercedes Benz, and Toyota and all the hybrids and diesels they were selling were almost $10,000 more than my gas powered Altima. I guess I'll list out some things I liked and some things that I didn't like about the hybrids and the diesels.

Lets start with diesel power! When I think of diesel power, I normally think of those huge ass trucks on the highway going way to fast and tailgating me on my way to some city in FL. I equate diesel with power but when I went on the VW site and looked up the TDI's that they were selling, the power on those cars were pathetic. It stated that they use 4 cylinder 100hp diesel engines. No wonder those things get such great gas milage, they hardly guzzle anything and maybe have the horse power of Lance Armstrong on a tricycle. I thought maybe Mercedes Benz would be better and I thought maybe I could find a small car tha was relatively cheap. HA! Talk about expensive, they were starting their cars over $30,000 and by the time I was finished fine tuning mine it was over $40,000 so that took care of that idea pretty quick. On the plus side though, the cars can litteraly last forever since they don't require tune ups and if you modify it a certain way, you can use old vegetable cooking oil as fuel.

On to the Hybrid's! YAY! The new wave of cars (but enviromentally sound??) of the future so we can conserve gasoline. I looked at the Toyota Prius and the Ford Escape to do some comparison shopping. This is just my opinion but the Prius is just ugly as sin and its not even cheap! Nicely equiped it would cost over $30,000 bucks for this little hunk of tin foil. The gas mileage is pretty good but the electric engine is only used when you're doing under 25. Thats fine if you live in NYC or something but out here in Tampa, I'm hitting at least 60mph on my way home most of the time so the gas savings go right out of the window. I also took a look at the Ford Escape. This thing looks just like the gas version but its supposed to get better gas mileage hm......... after looking at its specs it maybe gets 2-3 miles per gallon more than the gas version of the car. How is that supposed to save you money? I was also thinking long term and I wondered, in about 6 years I'm going to have to replace all the batteries for my hybrid. The batteries will cost around eighty bucks a pop and there's a whole battery pack stuffed somewhere in the car which increases its overall weight. Not to mention the battery acid is highly toxic, where are we gonna be dumping this stuff? Almost seems more prudent to chug diesel in my car than throw out batteries.

Well thats my rant on hybrids and diesels :P I'm sticking to my gas efficient Altima until someone comes up with a car with plenty of power and cheap fuel for it. Why can't we have a Mr. Fusion like in the end of the movie Back to the Future? Imaging running your car on your trash, that would be AWESOME!

For all your Mac Haters

I found this blog entry on CNet.com yesterday and I was going to post it yesterday but blogger was acting kinda funny. I think it was freakin hilarious how this man describes the problems with Mac OSX. Mac's suck!

Crazy Frog

I saw this music video at the movie thearter when I went to see Corpse Bride, it was so freakin funny I just had to get the song and the rest of the album isn't half bad either. You can follow this link and then go to Crazy Frog Video and watch it for yourself. TOO FUNNY!

A Bad Day

This morning wasn't so hot, I got up late which already made me late to begin with this morning. After I got ready and was already out of my apartment and loading my things into my car, I realized that I didn't have my wedding ring on. So.......... I trucked myself back up 3 flights of stairs to get my ring and then off to work I went where I hit some bad traffic making me even more late. I didn't get to the parking garage till around 8:40 this morning. Just as I left my car I started walking to my office building, then I realized I forgot my security badge!! HUMBUG! Yeah, today hasn't started off well. I'm hoping the rest of the day will be better............

Hurricane Rita

Wow, this is what I call a big ass storm. I think we're starting to run out of names for this hurricane season and hurricane season doesn't end until the end of November. This looks a lot like the past few I've experienced in the past year or so when things really started to pick up. If I see one of these bad boys coming my way, I'm taking the first plane to CT.

The angry kitty

This picture is just too funny, my friend at work sent this gem to me.

A new link to an old friend

I added a link to my friend Anabela's blog that she keeps on Xanga. She can't see my Blogger stuff since I think its banned in China or something since thats where she lives now. I've known Anabela from I think the 4th grade or something like that. Ahh the wonders of the internet in allowing people to stay connected.

Do you remember.........

When air at gas stations were free?? I was thinking about this on my morning commute into work. I need air in my front right tire. I dunno if its leaking air or not, I just know that I need 10 PSI in there so my car drives straight again. The thing is, it costs $0.50 just to start an air pump these days. I think thats kinda crazy that you have to pay for air now. When I lived in Stamford, there was a gas station kinda near my house and they always had free air. I don't know if they charge for it now, but it was nice to know that if I wanted air, I could get it for free. I don't have any cash or change with me today so I'm going to have to scrounge around for some I get home.

Return of the Godfather

I picked up Return of the Godfather from Barnes and Noble this weekend. Its kind of interesting to read considering I saw all 3 of the movies. Being that Mario Puzo is dead, the author of this book (I can't remember his name right now) decided to fill in some of the gaps between the first and second movies. Stuff like the Corleone's move to Vegas and Tahoe and some sort of war with a trusted capo (thats Captain for you non-Soprano watching souls). I'd write more but my cat is meowing at my bedroom door and I have to read more of the book too :)

Google Earth

Wow, this is what I call a really cool tool. If anyone has ever used Google Maps, this is sorta the same thing but its even cooler than Google Maps by far. It does this cool zoom thing when you find an address on it and you can tilt the image and everything. I found out that there are also 3D models of some buildings in major cities so you can see what they would actually look like in polygons.

I've used it just to find out different places that I know and I noticed that ALL of freakin NJ is mapped out just fine but where I used to live in CT has NO maps at all. How freakin insulting! I couldn't find my mom's house or anything on the map. Bleh, maybe it will be more useful later on when they finally get around to mapping CT. Other than that, Google Earth is pretty bad ass.

Burnout Revenge!

I just picked up the newest Burnout game for the Xbox and I have to say its freakin SWEET! There are tons of new courses to play, lots of short cuts, and new crash events for my wife to play as well. There are a few new twists this time around but I won't bore you with the details. I've spent most of my weekend playing this game. Right now its my wife's turn to play so thats why I'm able to actually blog on a Sunday evening. I'll write more up this coming week if I have the time.

In the mean time here's the link to EA Games' website

I'm back from Cali!

I'm finally back from Cali and I'm so glad to be home. It was a fun trip. I hit up Rodeo Drive to look around at all the rich people stuff and I must say I'll take Greenwich CT anyday of the week. I thought it would be nicer or something but I guess not. I have some pics to prove I was actually there. I have one of the smog, one of the Beverly Hills Sign and of course one of Rodeo Drive.

Just a note on my flight home. I had to be on one of the oldest planes that Delta flies. It was an aging 767. You can tell its old because they had to manually put up screen so we can watch in flight movies and stuff. Now thats old school! Not to mention the bins weren't made for the hand carry luggage that people use today so it was a pain in the ass just trying to get your stuff on board. Delta should just concentrate on Song and get rid of all their old planes because they're so not worth flying.

And now some pictures.

My trip to LA, Part 1!

I'm here in LA California and this is the first time I've actually had internet access. I haven't had internet access since Sunday which really sucked. Well thats not totally true, I had access with my Treo Smartphone but that really doesn't count. I'm getting off topic so here goes.

I got up insanely early on Sunday (4:30AM) for a 7AM flight. The flight itself wasn't bad, I must say that Song Airlines has some awesome interactive TV where I played trivia games and watched Direct TV. Once we landed I landed I went through the struggles of finding a Super Shuttle to take me to my hotel. The hotel itself was pretty awesome. I have a nice balcony that I use a lot and I had two beds as well. The coolest part about Sunday was that I was able to go out and eat lunch with my internet sis Ali. We went to some diner that I can't remember, I think the name of it is on her blog, and we also went with her boyfriend Alex. I've known Ali for close to a decade but this is the first time I've actually met her. I wasn't able to stay out long with Ali and Alex since I had to go to my first conference meeting at 4PM. The conference begining was fine, not too interesting but all in all a good start. I ended the day watching lots of TV and cursing a lot because I had no internet.

Monday was the first full day and I had to be there before 8AM. I am not a morning person in any sense so getting up that early is almost foreign to me. There were lots of good speakers but it was SO LONG! I didn't get out till about 6:15. The thing that made up for it was that I went out to eat at Houston's and had my Hawaiian Steak which is just da bomb! I ended the night again watching more TV since there isn't much else to do around here. Oh and there was the LA black out too which was fairly interesting.

Tuesday started off pretty good. They keynote speaker was some Stanford University Law professor and he had the best presentation so far. I'm going to search the CD I got at the begining for his presentation so I can look at it some more. I brought my laptop in but the wireless in the conference rooms didn't work. How crappy is that? There are over 800 techs in LA for this conference and the wireless wouldn't work. I'm sure between all of us we could have gotten it to work so we could at least have done SOMETHING. I had something interesting for lunch, I went out with my co-worker to this place at the mall but they "californiaized" it by adding this weird dressing, avocado's, COLD noodles, and mango. Btw I ordered Salmon. LOL

It's now Wednesday and I'm sitting here writing this blog waiting for the conference keynote to start up. Fun eh? I should be able to get online more later on today booyah!!

I'm going going, to Cali Cali

Tomorrow at an insanely early hour, I'm going to be heading over to Cali for a conference for work. This will be my first foray to LA since I was 13 years old. I'll be going with one of my co-workers and I'll also be meeting Ali there to go out to lunch on Sunady. I'll probably have these haunted eyes but thats ok, no big deal really. What I really need to do is go to the ATM and get some money out for traveling. After this, I have one more trip in October to my mom's place and then I dunno what the rest of the year holds. Good thing I'm all packed, now I can just be lazy and enjoy the US Open.

US Open last night

Last night I watched the US Open with my wife but it ran really late. The highlight of course was the James Blake and Andre Agassi match. I watched most of it and I totally think that Blake should have won. He was kicking some ass but then kinda lost some steam. The tie break was painful to watch, he was SO close to winning. I'm sure he'll do well next year and he might even make it on the Davis Cup team.

Oh and on the Lindsay Davenport match. I gotta say she was truely horrible. She was going up against a teenager with the weakest serve in womens tennis and got her ass handed to her on a platter. The finals are this weekend, too bad I'm flying out on Sunday to a conference, I'm going to miss the mens finals :(

Crazy Cat

My older cat Thumper was acting a little strange a couple nights ago. He was staring up at my sliding glass door that led to my lanai area that I don't use. Normally I would think he's just looking at some little flying bug but this time there was nothing there and he had this look in his eye and body movement that told me he was gauging distance or something. He was rising up on his hind legs and stuff, then going back down and he did this for at least 10 minutes just staring off into space or so I thought. The thing he was looking at was the alarm wire for the sliding glass door. Once he got the measurments right, he jumped in the air and grabbed the wire and ripped it out of the sensor unit. I yelled at him calling him nuts and then had to attempt to fix the wire he just took out. Luckily it was a job that packing tape could fix. I put the wire in a place where he won't see it so hopefully he won't go looking for it again and making leaps of faith at the sliding glass door anymore.

Being sick stinks

I don't know how I got it (I suspect from someone at work) but I have a cold and it sucks badly. Of course I'm here at work, I don't believe in taking sick days unless I can't bring myself to get out of bed or something or my doctor tells me to stay at home. There is always a huge pile of crap waiting whenever I get back from vacations so if I can avoid taking sick days I do. I don't enjoy the stuffed up, head pounding feeling I get not to mention the hot and cold flashes while sleeping. The only thing that I am looking forward to tonight is a nice dinner with my wife and some quality time in front of the TV with my wife and cats.

Mmm these Halls aren't a bad consolation prize for right now though..............

More gas craziness

I'm back from my trip to South Florida and I have to tell ya, its kinda strange to see gas being CHEAPER down there than in Tampa. On average I saw prices hovering around $2.99 for regular. Thats still pretty damn expensive but Tampa is about $3.09 on average and a lot of stations are actually out of gas. I'm running on fumes right now so after work I'm going to have to search for a gas station that actually has gas. Sucks.

Where's the gas?

I'm down here in South Florida and I got here last night. I had a full tank of gas when I left but I figured that on the way down, I should really get some gas before I hit Alligator Alley and I knew that the prices of gas were also really high in South Florida so I decided to stop off at Naples Florida and get some gas. There were cars everywhere searching for gas it seemed. I went past 5 different gas stations before finding one that had gas and even then there was a limit of $35.00. I had the better part of half a tank and I knew that $20.00 should be able to fill up my tank. Lo and behold, here I am with more than 3/4 of a tank so I should be able to get back to Tampa on it if I don't travel too far down here with my car. I hope they have gas in Tampa or else I won't be getting to work at all unless I steal my wifes car.

Gas Prices

My friend from work sent this to me, I found it quite amusing! LOL!

Done with the Da Vinci Code

This book was pretty good although I must say I think I like Angels and Demons a bit more. I'll have to re-read both to be sure :)

No new brakes for me

I dropped my car off this morning at Nissan thinking that I needed new brakes because they were squeaking a lot when I hit them in traffic. After they did a test drive they determined that I don't need new brakes and that there's plenty of wear and tear left on my brake pads. Granted they charged me $40 for this but its bettern than the $400 I was expecting to drop today.

Whoohoo Mario Baseball!

I just got Mario Superstar Baseball for my GameCube and its freakin awesome! I thought it might be fairly simple to play but I'm getting my ass kicked by the computer all the time because I don't know how to steal bases or go back to base when I'm caught on a fly out and it normally results in a double play. But I have to say its damn fun and the special moves of some of these players are kick ass. I should probably read the manual so I can begin to play better.

One weird looking kitten

I found this on petfinder. This is one weird coloration for a cat personally. He's like half black and half orange with stripes, oh and white too, truely weird!!

Sweet new shirts

My wife just got me some Crazy Shirts. It's a store in Hawaii that has all these great prints. Check out some of the neat shirts I'm getting this time :) Copy and paste my link to get to the online store -> www.crazyshirts.com

This one is Crater dyed, I like the look of the mask.

This one is a long sleeve that I got on the suggestion from my wife, she has better taste than I do in clothes and I'll use this in the winter time.

This one is SUPER sweet looking. I like that its a black shirt although I think it would have been ultra sweet as a long sleeve too but its too hot in Florida to warrant one.

Burnout Revenge is AWESOME

I went to Best Buy today just for the hell of it since I was already in the area with my wife. I walked in and spied a huge plasma screen TV with an Xbox and it was playing a game that looked a lot like Burnout3 but it was updated....... hmmmmmmm........ that got the cogs in the brain working. I sat down and played it and lo and behold it was a demo of Burnout Revenge!

I gotta say this game is so freakin sweet. I was able to take short cuts, hit cars and do all types of other crazy shit. I am definately getting this game when it comes out without question!! :)

Another Friday

It is Friday once again and the week is winding down. To entertain myself, I'm listening to my Hawaiian internet radio station based in Honolulu. :)

Slowly but surely

I've been playing my game Metal Arms off and on for the past two weeks and yesterday I progressed through three levels that were quite challenging. I have determined that I don't enjoy going in guns blazing all the time in this game because that normally gets me all shot up and killed pretty quick. I've taken to sniping at things a lot in the past few levels since the bad guys are just so freakin hard.

A good example would be yesterday. There was this flying thing thats a bitch to kill since it has 6 laser guns, 4 rocket launchers, and it can FLY! For this section, there were two of them. I messed up when I tried to kill the first one (that appeared from thin air, that really pissed me off) and I wasted my EMP grenade so I couldn't disable it. I had to try and kill the bastard the old fashioned way and lost half my health.

Since I didn't feel like dying and starting all over again, I used my sniper scope and just started looking around for enemies and killing them with a few head shots. After eliminating like 5 bots this way, I scanned the sky just to be on the safe side and I found another one of those blasted flying things floating around. Being the sneaky bastard that I am, I stood behind some cover and just used all my sniper ammo on it until it died, very satisfying and I saved a lot of health. I guess we'll see how the rest of the game goes, I think about half way through even though I've gone through about 20 levels. Only another 20 to go!

Google Desktop Search 2 Beta

I have the new Google desktop search app on my work computer. I was using the MSN one which worked very well I might add but I figured I'd give this thing a try. I like how its a side bar and has all these neat little modules and stuff like weather, stocks, blogs, the sticky pad, and the news. All these things seem to work pretty well so far.

However there is one module that doesn't work and thats the Gmail tool. It's supposed to grab new gmail and show it to you on the sidebar but it does this so slowly, I'm still using my Gmail notifier that I got way back. I prefer to experiment with my work PC than do it at home so as not to corrupt my install. So for the forseeable future, I'm sticking with the MSN search at home.

Mario Baseball is sweet

I went to Walmart last night to see if they had the Da Vinci Code illustrated edition but they didn't. So my wife and I took a stroll to see what new DVD's just came out and lo and behold they had a demo version of Mario Baseball! I watched some demo's of the game on Gamespot so I knew how to power pitch and power hit. The game isn't as simple as one might think but its really fun when you make contact and smack the ball. I didn't get any home runs but I am definately picking this game up when it comes out.

All done with my book

Last night I finished Angels and Demons and I must say that it was a pretty cool book. I especially liked all the pictures in it. I'm paying for it today though since I went to bed last night at around 2am. I ache all over and now I need a new book to read. I guess I'll have to pick up the Da Vinci Code from Barnes and Noble or something sometime this week.

Finally a working DVD

I got Gunparade March Operation 1 on DVD again from Blockbuster and this time they sent over a brand new DVD instead of a cracked one. I waas able to finally watch all 4 episodes instead of only watching the first two. Now that I've seen it, I can now look forward to watching the next DVD's in the series since now I know whats happening.

Mario Baseball

On August 29th, I'll be heading over to Best Buy to get my copy of Mario Baseball. If its anything like Mario tennis, it should be freakin kick ass. September 13 is Burnout Revenge day so I'll have to beat Mario Baseball fairly fast. I'm still working on Metal Arms, this game is a BITCH!! haha

Angels and Demons

For some odd reason I got sucked into watching this show on the History Channel about the Da Vinci Code and now I have this urge to read the book. However, on the suggestion of a Waldenbooks employee, I have started with the book that sets up the Da Vinci Code called Angels and Demon's. Now being me, I just couldn't get the regular edition of the book, I had to go off and get the illustrated edition <- follow the link to Amazon to see it.

I gotta say, its been a long time since I've read a book that wasn't a text book or a kids book that had pictures in it. I like how it breaks up the text and they're really colorful. My only complaint right now about the book is that the chapters are really short sometimes. I had a chapter that lasted I think 2 paragraphs. I think I'm up to page 160 something and I'm already on chapter 47 or something like that. Don't get me wrong, I think the book is really good but I'm kinda bummed that the book was so much cheaper at Amazon. I'll probably get the Da Vinci Code from Amazon but I need to find an item thats about 2-3 bucks so I can qualify for super saver shipping. Yeah I know I'm freakin cheap. :P

The 40 Year Old Virgin

I just saw this movie today in the thearter and it was freakin awesome. I laughed from the minute the movie started till it ended, I highly recommend this movie. I won't give away any details so I don't spoil it for anyone :)

Alone at work

My team isn't here at work with me so its just me holding down the fort on a Friday of all days. I don't blame them though, with gas prices being the way they are I'm gonna wanna telecommute more to save money on gas.

Flickr is the word

I've been experimenting with Flickr lately and it seems pretty cool. I have cat and wedding pics posted but you can't see the wedding pic unless you're my friend or a family member. I'll get around to inviting people to see the pics. Use the little badge on the right hand side to view pics of my cats for now until I find better pics to post.

Flickr

This is a test post from flickr, a fancy photo sharing thing.

Pictures on Flickr

I just opened a new account on Flickr (they're owned by Yahoo) so I could start uploading some pics. As a test I just uploaded pictures of my cats for now. I'll get down and dirty with some better pics later on from my wedding.

The worst translation of a chinese menu ever

My friend who lives in Shanghai sent this to me. Her friend took the pics. You'll have to zoom in because the pic quality kinda sucks but enjoy all the same. Try not to get caught at work looking at it lol

The office is complete!

With the help of my wife, we have finished off the office space of our apartment. I just have to clean up some of my junk. Here's the last thing we assembled.
Booyah!

Someone needs to re-pimp this ride

I was driving in Tampa with my wife and we were on our way to pick up one of her friends from CT so we could go to dinner when all of a sudden this weird ass car passes me with its ass in the air and with a loud muffler. I was able to pull up next to it at a traffic light. From the looks of it, its an older Suzuki Samurai but whoever pimped it out seems to need a check up from the neck up. Check out the picture LOL!

Hot n Spicy Chex Mix

This has to be one of my favorite snacks. I actually brought a bag with me to work but now its almost gone. I need to get more so I have something to snack on when I'm at home.

The Happiness Fairy

Desk chair for me!

I just got this cool new chair for my desk. It's really comfy and better than the stool that I was using before. It's in one of the other pics on my blog. Imagine sitting on a stool for a few hours, its not that comfy!

Power tools rule

I have a new drill that I got as a wedding gift (I know its more of a gift for ME but its helpful around the house). Anyway, one of our chairs for our dining table has been broken for I dunno how long. For some reason the support strut for two of the legs broke and I tried all types of glues to hold it together but nothing worked. When my wife's father came over he suggested drilling a hole and using some screws. At the time I didn't have a drill, but now that I do I decided to give it a try. I headed out to Walmart and got some long screws and then I proceeded to drill two holes in the chair. I must say I was surprised I didn't foul up and drill a hole straight through the chair leg. I put on the screw driver attachment and drilled that philips head screw right into the hole I just finished drilling out. I tested the chair for durability and it works like new again!! WHOOHOO!! Oh happy day! Now I can't wait to drill some holes in the wall so we can put up more pictures.

The insanity of gas prices

I know that people have noticed gas prices just going through the stratosphere lately. I think in one week alone, the gas prices in Tampa have gone up about 20 cents. On Friday on my way home from work (I telecommuted ;) ) I went to my local Hess station where it was $2.23 which was pretty damn cheap if you ask me. Then on Saturday, I had to go to Orlando to pick up some stuff with my wife's car and when we went to get some gas it was already at $2.39, thats a little crazy. Now this morning I drive by my local gas stations and its already hitting $2.49! Thats what I call insanity right there. I think I'm going to have to start living at the office because at this rate I won't be able to afford the commute to work.

Sunday, August 14, 2005

What the heck is up with gas prices?

Holy smokes is all I gotta say. Gas just went up $0.10 in about a day. Thats freakin insane! At this rate I'm going to have to get a scooter since its more gas efficient.

Another bad DVD from Blockbuster

Looks like I'm striking out with Gunparade March DVD 1. I got a new one today from Blockbuster and it was cracked on the side. I could watch episode 1 and 2 like the other DVD that I sent back but when I got to episode 3 and 4 I couldn't watch it and it kept on skipping or stopping. SUCKS!! Oh well, we'll try this one more time, hopefully this one will work.

Wednesday, August 10, 2005

I can't watch my DVD

I received Gunparade March on DVD yesterday from Blockbuster Online (its anime so you probably never heard of the title before) and I saw that it had all these scratches and stuff and it was actually cracked a little in the center. I thought, why not, lets give it a try in the DVD player. Amazingly I was able to watch 2 out of 4 episodes on the disc. I have many many DVD players in my home (if I count my computers, I think I have 6 all together) and none of them would play all of episode 3 and it wouldn't even load 4. I sent a request to Blockbuster to send me another disc. I'm hopeful that this one won't be as bad. There are over 72 movies in the que, so I should be able to stay entertained for quite a while over the next few months :)

Metal Arms: Glitch in the System

Whoohoo NEW GAME! I just got it yesterday and I've been trying it out and so far this puppy is HARD. There are around 40 levels to it and I think I've completed maybe 3 of them so only 37 to go unless I get bored before then. I still have to finish Ninja Gaiden, Jade Empire, Halo 2, Panzer Dragoon Orta, and who knows what else in my collection.

But anyway, so far so good. I like playing shooters because you just get to blast the hell out of everything. I've already gotten some pretty cool weapons (even got the rocket launcher already) and blowing up bad guys is quite satisfying. The game itself is kinda hard since its easy to get blown to bits and the AI is smart as hell. For most of the gun fights, I have to take cover so I don't get fried. Just for good measure I'm including the box cover.

New Headset

I just got a sweet new headset for my Treo 650 from my brother-in-law. He got it from one of his friends but he can't use it since his phone doesn't support Bluetooth technology so he gave it to me instead. My wife happened to have a Motorola charger and it fit the headset so I don't even have to buy one now. SAWEET!! Check out the picture. For those of you that are curious, its the HS280 model, but there are newer ones out there already.

What a terrible movie

My wife signed us up for Blockbuster Online so we could rent movies without having to go to the video store all the time and so far we've been pretty good with our choices. The service is pretty decent in that we get 3 movies at a time and we normally finish it in about a day or so of getting it.

I put on our list the movie Alexander, thinking that it might be pretty decent like Troy or Gladiator. Man was I wrong! The movie was long and kinda boring. It put my wife to sleep in minutes. I watched it just because I rented it and I wanted to see how it turned out. I thought they could have done a much better movie than that and I'm not sure about all they geh references about Alexander the Great. If I was one of those movie reviewers I'd give this one a rating of 5 NEGATIVE stars, it was that bad LOL!

Arizona's RULE!

I just came back from Ft. Lauderdale and I brought back not 1, not 2, not even 3, but 4 cases of Arizona ice tea cans. Arizona is one of my favorite ice teas and I had an opportunity to go to BJ's and get some, ha I took the last 4 cases that were available at the store! Too bad Costco doesn't carry them, they carried the bottle versions up in CT but they don't have squat down here in Tampa. MMM Arizona's for at least 2 months LOL!

Telecommuting is AWESOME!!!

I gotta say that telecommuting for work is bad ass. Well as you know, today is Friday so there isn't really much going on at the work place today and I have to go and get some photo albums too.

I just thought that I would post my little work area. I have not one, but two computers going at the same time. The laptop is my work PC and the Dell with the mis matched parts is my home PC. There's a shell of my old PC next to it. I don't have a proper chair, just a little camp stool that I use to sit on until I move to a house or something. Come on, you know you're jealous of my set up!! ;)

I suck at bowling

Last night was $1.00 game night for league bowlers. I don't bowl in a league anymore but I'm still sanctioned by the American Bowling Association so that entitled me and my wife to a nice discount. Holy crap did I suck badly. I could normally throw at least 130-160 depending on how my day was going but last night was just TERRIBLE! I think I was throwing just above 100. I guess it didn't help that my thumb was sticking in the bowling ball hole and the A/C in the bowling alley was all but non-existant.

Hopefully I'll do better this weekend when I go bowling with my wife's family. Of course she totally kicked my ass, after all, she's a league bowler :) If we can do it, we'll join my company league in the fall. That would be a nice thing to do on Monday nights besides staring at the TV.

Another trip to the photographer

Tomorrow is FRIDAY!! (BOOYAH!!) and I am going to be working from home. I do this every once in a while when there is an errand I have to run thats fairly far from work or home. I not only get to charge my time to work because I am working but it lets me stay home with my cats.

Tomorrows trip will be my FINAL one to the wedding photographer to pickup the wedding albums and to also get my negatives. I have to drive my ass all the way to Pinellas Park to get them (if you want to know how far it is, look it up on Google maps or something :P) Hopefully I can get them scanned onto a CD then I can do some major posting online. I'm probably going to use Flickr to host them since Webshots just doesn't do it for me anymore these days. Look out for them in the coming weeks!

Stupid Fire Alarm Test

My apartment complex is having all the fire alarms tested to make sure that they are working correctly. However, this kinda stinks because I have to put my cats in our main bathroom. It's not that its cramped or anything, its just that its not very good to keep two cats in small quarters by themselves. One really bad thing is that the management office has no set "plan" on checking the complex so they can't give out specific dates. I don't particularly like this arrangement because that means I have to potentially keep them cooped up in there till Friday. WEAK!!

Now thats what I call a dinner!

Last night was Claire's 25th Birthday so of course we had to go out. We decided to go to the Capital Grille in Tampa. That place rocks! They have some of the best calamari I've ever tasted and the lobster dish was also excellent. Last night I tried out what a White Chocolate Moose was and it was mighty tasty, the berries they added helped a lot. Gotta say, we'll go back there again for another special occasion, just have to find one so we have a good excuse :)

DOOM!!

For all your game geeks, Doom is coming out in movie format and it has The Rock in the lead role. How freakin cool is that?? For more info, go to IGN Movies or go to www.doommovie.com. KICK ASS I am so seeing this movie.

Pretty Twisted

My wife's co-worker likes watching these weird cartoon's. Check them out and let me know what you think LOL

Yay Happy Birthday!

Today is my wife's 25th Birthday........... YAY!!! :)
