Boo to my apartment complex
Yesterday I received a notice from the property managers that all the apartments in my complex are going to be converted into condo's by next year but they're begining the process already. Right now they're not accepting new renters, the management people have actually moved the office to an apartment to make way for the new management company, and I should be receiving some sort of packet in the mail in a few days. Since I've stayed around for so long, I have the option to buy my place but I'm thinking that the price is going to be hideous since I have the largest apartment type that they offer. I also have the option to extend my lease for an additional 9 months for when I receive my letter so by my calculations I'll have to figure something out before December. GRRRRR............................... Somehow I don't agree with this at all. What if I want to stay in my apartment but not buy it? It gives me mobility and freedom but now I have a ticking clock which gives me little choice in the matter in what to do, move or buy hmmm........... I guess we'll see what happens in the coming months.

Bill is kind of in a similar situation. His apartment complex changed ownership between the time when he signed his lease and when he moved in. As a result, he's allowed to live there during the extent of his lease, but in the mean time they are performing extensive renovations to the place and essentially forcing everyone out as soon as they can. They've also done things like prevent anyone there from owning a pet (contrary to the lease he signed) and they've even forced him to move to a lower floor - with no rent compensation.
Unbelievable.
Man thats just bullshit right there. I doubt thats even legal since the contract he signed with the other company should still be in effect until it expires.
You would think... If it meant more to him he would probably try to fight it, but I guess it is really not worth the hassle.
