Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee for PSP

I recently got this game for my wife's PSP and even though I'm not a big fan of golf, I have to say that this game is pretty fun. I personally haven't played a lot of it, but from what my wife tells me the game is quite challenging and there are tons of things that you can unlock. Some of the standard things you can unlock are abilities and courses. Some of the fun things that you can get are new pieces of clothing and hair styles. I'll play around with the game some more when my wife isn't looking but it seems really fun over all :)

Man am I dumb sometimes.......

Today was cleaning day at the old homestead. Of course that included lots of vacuuming since I have lots of carpet in my apartment. I figured that since I hadn't looked at some of the moving parts in my Dyson vacuum, now would be a good time to see if any of its parts needed cleaning. The front roller needed cleaning since there was all this hair and other stuff wrapped around the roller. Stupid me, I took off the plate that holds the roller and started trying to PULL the hair off instead of cutting it. This resulted in me pull up one half of the roller from the rest of the vacuum. Since I couldn't fix it right away, I decided to clean it first then attempt to put it back together. After a good 15 minutes of struggle and examining the totally useless instructions, I was able to put the roller back on the vacuum and it worked perfectly again. I will not be taking apart my $500+ vacuum again in the near future unless I have detailed schematics I can tell you that!

Another 360 games DONE!

I've finally finished up Project Gotham Racing 3 for Xbox 360. I haven't unlocked everything but I managed to get a medal in all the races and other events that are in the game. I've bought a lot of awesome cars so far and my personal favorites are Ferrari's and Porches. I'm going to start playing Perfect Dark Zero since that and Kameo are the only games that I haven't beaten yet.

Waiting

I saw this movie tonight that my wife and I rented from Blockbuster. I thought it was going to be funny but disappointingly it wasn't all that funny. I was hoping it was going to be along the lines of Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle (now that was a funny ass movie). I'll give it this thought, it had its moments and I will probably never ever send food back to the kitchen because its wrong ever again!

I need to start to NOT eat at the cafeteria

Here at work I have a cafeteria and I used to never really go. When my wife started, I went a couple times. The food was OK, nothing to really scream about but this morning my breakfast sandwich was just not up to snuff. So I have resolved, that if I can totally avoid it, I will no longer eat at the cafeteria to save my health and my taste buds! I'll drive all the way home first before eating there because too much of that food will probably shed decades from my life span.

BRRRRR!!

Talk about cold, I don't think Tampa has seen the 30's consistantly in a good long time. And here I thought the days of being in the cold were over. Still nothing can top my sister in laws wedding where it was a whopping 15 degrees!! WOOOOO! OK thats it, gotta find a way to keep warm. At least I have J Alexanders steak for lunch with their signature smashed potato's :)

Now thats what I call some SNOW!

This weekend I was in semi sunny South Floriduh visiting the in-laws again and I ran upon some news clips that showed how much snow everyone in the North East just received. All I can say is DAMN! They totally got pounded with about 2 FEET of snow. In any book thats a ton. I can't say I wish I was up there but I kind of do wish I was there. Why you ask?? SKIING! Just think, there are now mountains of freshly packed powder up in Vermont just waiting for skiiers to use and abuse it. I tell ya, if I wasn't here and still living up north, we'd be prepping my wife's Xterra for a little trip to the mountains to get in some skiing :)

Oh the humanity!!

I'm really bored (as you can tell by the amount of blog posts in one day) and I'm watching womens ice hockey for the '06 winter olympics and right now Canada is totally thrashing Italy 10-0. Thats just a crazy score for hockey. I mean scoring goals in hockey is like scoring goals in soccer. It comes maybe once every full moon or something. I guess thats what happens when you take a european team and put them against one of the gods of ice hockey. muahaha!!

MySpace is starting to suck

I'm not complaining really about the concept or anything of MySpace. I think its pretty cool that I can find people that I lost touch with and all that jazz. What really really sucks is that they don't have the capacity for all the stuff thats on the site. It's slow as peanut butter running down hill and the site is always under maintenance. Get it together MySpace tech support or else you're going to end up like Friendster!!! :P

Sunflower Seeds

I've been driving for a long time and I also drive for very long distances from time to time (Tampa to Ft. Lauderdale is about 280 miles one way) and the only way that I can actually stay awake for drives that are over 2 hours is to eat............... sun flower seeds! I've tried to use gum or other types of snacks but for some reason sun flower seeds always do the trick.

I think I have become a connoisseur when it comes to sun flower seeds because these days I just can't eat just any kind. My seeds of choice are David's Sun Flower seeds. I've tried all types from Planters to run of the mill ones that are at CVS and in terms of taste, David's knows no equal. So far the only place that carries them near me is Walgreens. It's a good thing I live close to one so when I take those long drives, I have a ready supply of my favorite wake me up food :)

Mario Strikers!

I have to say that I'm thoroughly addicted to playing Mario Strikers for GameCube. I'm taking a break from the 360 for now and playing a bad ass soccer game instead. I love killing and beating things up but there's only so much you can do on a given evening. So I've once again gone to the 'Cube to change things up. Right now I'm playing Super Cup battles which are pretty challenging and I'm cleaning up nicely. Once I beat it, I'll crank the difficulty up a few notches and see how badly I get my ass stomped. LOL!

Internet job hunting just got harder

I just read this on CNN about new rules that the Feds just put in place for making it tougher for people online to apply to jobs. I personally think thats total crap. It's hard enough already trying to get a job and a lot of people already do it online, with the new rules in place it'll make getting a job even tougher which is absolute CRAP! I hope this law gets kicked to the curb because I have enough stress in my life as it is.

Red Eye

My wife and I rented the movie Red Eye this weekend to kill some time before the Super Bowl and I have to say that it wasn't one of Wes Craven's best movies. We were looking for the absolute terror that normally occurs during his movies but this one was lacking. Oh well, I'll just take it back to Blockbuster tomorrow and hopefully something good will come in the mail for me to watch.

Now thats what I call a good burger

I went out to Gameworks in Tampa, well Ybor, for lunch with one of my co-workers to check the place out for a meeting that we might hold there. Since we'll be there for lunch and for the afternoon, we tried out some of the food. The food there is pretty good I must say. The place at Gameworks where I ate was called Jax Grill. I had the BBQ and Bacon Burger. This was an excellent burger over all. I had to pick the veggies off of it but thats alright since they were all at the bottom. The best part about it?? I didn't have to add ketchup or anything like that. I did ask them to add a slice of swiss cheese but thats all. Good thing there's a Gameworks in South Florida, now I can go there and get this burger when I visit the in-laws :)

And God opened up the heavens and out poured rain that lastetd for 40 Days.............

The title for this blog seemed appropriate today considering its raining like CRAZY! I went out to lunch with a co-worker and the rain is just thick as hell. I can barely see where I'm going. Now consider that I live in Floriduh, this state is at sea level which means lots and lots of FLOODING! I think I'm going to have to seriously look at investing in a jetski to get around this town when it rains like this, my poor car can't take all the water. Good thing its the weekend after it hits 5pm or else it would have made this day really crappy.

Trying to get smartified!

In my very lazy pursuit of knowledge, I have bought a book about SQL aka Sequel. I'm learning this mainly for my job just because it will be tons easier if I can run my own queries and stuff without having to ask someone to do it for me. Not to mention, if I want to get a new job, knowing how to do SQL will be a definate plus since most large IT organizations like it if you know how to do SQL. ;)

I'm sure some of you are asking, wtf is all this geek speak anyway??? Well I am a techie somewhat and we use this huge relational database (too complicated to explain, if you want to know what it is buy the book!!) at work and the easiest way to get info out of it is to run a query (thats a search for you non technical people) against the database using archaic statements that seem cryptic (stuff like SELECT, WHERE, ORDER BY, etc.... in really long strings) than using the application that connects to the database. This way I can see everything and narrow down the data to the actual stuff that I need. Pretty nifty eh?

The book I bought is called Sams Teach Yourself SQL in 10 Minutes. That doesn't mean to say that I'm going to be an SQL guru in 10 minutes, it has lessons in it and each one is 10 minutes. I haven't counted all the lessons yet but I do know that I'm only on lesson 4 and I'm learning how to get info out of a table. I downloaded a simple Access database to do the lessons but when I get more experience and confidence, I'm going to try it on the test version of our CMDB and see if I can get some useful info out of the thing. :)

A strange observation

This is something I never thought about before but the roads down here in Florida are so smooth compared to back home in CT. I was up in CT in January and its only now that I actually appreciate how nice and smooth all the roads are down here. There are exceptions of course but at least it doesn't feel like I'm riding a jack hammer while I'm cruising in my car going to work. Tomorrow is another day of work, absolutely dreading it!

Ahh memories!!

I'm down here in South Florida and I had to take my wife to a job interview in Miami. My wife's sisters live in Weston so its a bit of a drive to get there (30 minutes without traffic). After the interview we had to drive back on I-95. Now driving 95 really took me back because no matter where you are, I-95 is always the same. Lots of traffic, multiple accidents, and just people driving badly in general. I had the nostalgic feeling for all of 10 minutes until I started getting pissed because it took an hour and a half to get home................ so much for nostalgia :P

Damn traffic

This morning I was not a happy camper. I was STUCK behind a truck and couldn't get around it. The two other lanes had some weak drivers that were keeping pace with the truck for some odd reason which backed everything up. Regardless, my ass was late to work! BOOOO!!!

More Stewies Pics

I freakin love Stewies!! Here's a pic I took of the sign while I was freezing my ass off in CT. I should contact Stew Jr. and see if he'll let me open a store down here in Florida so I'll never be without Stewies again! Publix sucks in comparison!! :P

It's going to be a good week at work

Most people consider a good week at work being a week full of nothing to do. Mine is going to be full of meetings but thats not whats going to make it a good week. First thing, I'm going to take Friday off to see the in-laws in South Florida which should be fun. I still don't like leaving my cats alone for days at a time but I don't think I'll be leaving them alone for days at time much after this trip until the summer time. Second, and most importantly, its going to be jeans week at work and I'll be able to wear my favorite jersey at work too! That means I get to break out the NY Yankee jersey's that I have in my closet. WHOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Man I love my job sometimes :)

Kameo

I've started playing the only game I ignored when I got my Xbox 360 and thats Kameo: Elements of Power. I'm taking a break from Project Gotham Racing (I hate running my car through cones), and Perfect Dark Zero (you can only stand getting killed in 10 seconds so many times and by the computer no less) for the time being and I'm concentrating on this game. Suprisingly this is one of the more fun games that I've had. The only thing thats kind of a drag is that you have to search around for stuff and the controls are a little off when you're trying to whoop ass.

The graphics are freakin awesome and I love the funny animations that are included. Maybe I'll be lucky and this will turn out to be a long game although I hear that it should take a gamer about 10 hours to complete. I like to take my time with games so normally it takes me twice as long as a normal person since I like sniffing around for goodies in the game. Now I wonder what game to get next...................... I'm thinking maybe a PC game (I haven't done that in a long time) called Star Wars: Empire at War!

A good story for people who like cats :)

Connecticut Wedding Trip

This past weekend I went up to CT for my sister in law's wedding. She lives in South Florida but decided to have it up north so it won't be such a hassle for friends and family to attend. The wedding was great and the food excellent. However, I have to blame her new husband for wishing for snow on the day of the wedding. Not only did it get bone chilling COLD (we're talking teens here people and thats without windchill), but the roads were a total mess!

I had the honor of being able to drive my wife's mothers Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder (that was a lot of fun) to the wedding and the day before I drove Claire's old truck to run errands. The Church and Reception were both in upstate CT and if anyone knows upstate CT, there's practically nothing there but woods and really small roads that twist and turn a lot. There were a couple of downed trees along the route and it didn't help things that I didn't have windshield washer fluid for the car until after I arrived at the church.

The bachelor party that I attended was kick ass and I met some really cool guys that were part of the wedding party. I'll post up some pics later on of the wedding. Not many pics of me though since I'm the photographer :)

I love Stewies

I'm back in the northeast and I just took a trip to my favorite grocery store which is only available up here. Stew Leonards is the largest dairy store in the world and they also have some of the best food anywhere. I used to go there all the time when I used to live up. I think I want to retire back up here because there is nothing like living in your home town :)

I beat my first Xbox 360 Game!!

Last night I was able to beat Call of Duty 2 for Xbox 360. I have to admit that the game was plenty challenging since I can't remember the number of times I died in the game. The last level was tons of fun! Kill ton's of Germans, and put sticky bombs on 2 tanks while not getting killed..... yeah like thats easy! Now that I've beaten the game, I think I'm either going to move on to Project Gotham Racing (I'm pretty far along in the game so it makes sense to continue it) or I'll start clearing house on Perfect Dark Zero (I'm on Level 4 of this game and so far its been kicking my ass thoroughly).

I think I'm pretty much done with Dead or Alive 4 but I haven't gotten all the costumes yet or the final unlockable character but its only a matter of time. I've beaten the game with everyone else though in Story Mode and the end movies for the characters are pretty freakin sweet if I do say so myself. Tonight I shall be doing some more gaming since this weekend I won't have any time to do so at all.

Cold mornings stink

Normally I don't mind cold mornings. The only time cold mornings stink is when my car refuses to start. My car is relatively new, its a 2002 Nissan Altima but for some reason my particular Altima doesn't like the cold. When its cold and I don't drive my car for a few days it just kinda turns over but the engine never catches so the car won't start. After cranking it for like 15-20 minutes the car will finally start but its still quite frustrating. I think my car just needs a garage or something so its not just sitting out there in the cold. Then I think my problems will be solved! Anyone wanna give me money to buy a house so I can garage my car???

Kickin Virtual Ass

I got in some good game time last night. I was able to play through a level of Call of Duty 2 and get a few more costumes for Dead or Alive 4. I still play Call of Duty 2 more than Perfect Dark Zero right now but only because I'm so far into the game I might as well finish it. I think I have another 2 levels to go and then the game should be finished.

Last night I was able to do something I've never been able to do before. I was able to beat the last boss character in Dead or Alive 4 on the first try using Ryu Hayabusa. Normally he's not even close to being my best character but for some reason I was on fire when I used him. For those of you that know Dead or Alive 4, the AI for the last boss character is really really cheap when it comes to hitting you and disappearing as you're laying the smack down on it. But last night, I kicked her butt but didn't win a new costume since I had them all......... Oh well, maybe tonight I'll finish another level in Call of Duty 2 and hopefully I won't get my ass whipped.

Treo 700W has arrived!

After a little less than a year, the new Palm Treo 700W has arrived. What makes this sucker so special besides being newer than my current Palm Treo 650? Well for one thing, I'm running Palm OS 5 on my current 650 and this sucker runs Windows Mobile 5. Yes thats right, a Palm device is actually running a Windows OS on it. I haven't seen that many reviews on it since it just hit Verizon (its only available from Verizon for now but it will come out to other carriers I think) but from the specs I've seen, this thing is pretty sweet! It has EVDO high speed data connections (that would have been nice to have on the 650) and it has a 1.3 Megapixel camera plus even more memory. Man I'm jealous! I will just have to wait and see how people like the thing and who knows, maybe in 2 years when they come out with the Treo 800 I'll pick that up.

Right now I have my sights on getting an SD card for my PDA as well as the TomTom GPS Navigation 5 software and GPS device so I can use my PDA for GPS in my car. That should be really useful in the coming months. Now if I only had money to actually get it.............

Late night DOA-fest

Last night I stayed up till 1AM playing Dead or Alive 4. I was determined to get at least all the end movies for the characters and I pretty much succeeded. I have even unlocked 3 of the 4 hidden characters. Now I have to work on getting all of the new costumes for the characters which is why I was up so late. I must say that I'm starting to get a better hang of the game, I can semi counter people now but I still don't know even 1/4 of the moves that can be done and the practice section isn't all that great. I tried it last night and the moves are kinda hard to pull off but I'm going to work on it some more later so I can hopefully counter the cheap moves the computer does to me.

I need to dive into some of the other games so I don't lose my skills in playing them. Maybe I'll finish Call of Duty 2 this weekend and then start up on Perfect Dark Zero after that. PGR3 will be afterwards but that depends on my mood. Tonight, more gaming maddness with DOA4! WOOHOO!!

Jason's Xbox 360 Game Reviews

Welcome to my personal views about the new Xbox 360 games I have the absolute pleasure of owning. First I want to thank my wife Claire for getting me the 360 for Christmas and also for not getting too mad when I play hours on end. Now on to my impressions about each game.

First up is Dead or Alive 4. This is my most recent game and 3 in the series that I own. I have Dead or Alive 2 for Dreamcast and Dead or Alive 3 for Xbox. I have to say that without a doubt this is the toughest one I've played. The AI is cheap as hell with its shots and I have no idea how to do half of the new combo moves. On the other hand it is quite satisfying when I finally am able to beat someone and lord over them like I am the Master of creation. The visuals are just bad ass all around. I wish I understood the story more and if there was an easier difficulty setting so it wouldn't take me about 30 minutes to get past the last guy. The new characters are SWEET. I'll probably end up using them a lot during survival matches but right now I'm concentrating on getting all the new costumes and that means playing tons of story mode. It should keep me occupied for a good long while I hope.

Call of Duty 2 is just awesome. It's pretty hard at first but once you get the hang of it, its just a great first person shooter. Since I have the original Xbox, I approach a lot of the first person shooter games like I do Halo. This is one game you should not play like Halo. It's hard to aim well in the game because the weapons are replica's of what was used back then and the weapons back then weren't all that accurate. If you have a machine gun, you gotta get up fairly close to waste someone. I don't even bother with pistols. I like the smoke grenade though, that has helped me out a ton by putting up a huge smoke screen to hide my ass while I went about flanking someone and pasting their guts on a wall or something. I'm almost done with this one and its one of my favorites thus far. Highly recommend picking this one up.

I am typically a Burnout kind of person where the cars are fast and you can hit things. PGR3 is more like a simulation where everything is pretty realistic except for crashing but thats ok. The physics in the game is pretty dead on in terms of what would happen if you were doing some of the corners in a real car and thats a good thing. The graphics and sounds are awesome and I love the fact I can buy all these super expensive cars like Porches and Bently's and tons of other cars that I've never even heard of. The racing action at first doesn't seem fast but when you get some of the more powerful cars it really ramps up. I prefer doing the races but there are a bunch of challenges that you have to win as well in order to progress in the game. I could live without these since I'm not good at them but I guess it all goes back into making me a better driver.

Kameo I haven't played a lot of but from what I've seen its pretty fun to turn into different monsters and kick their asses. I'll give a better update once I've actually sat down and played it for a good long time.

Wow, thats what I have to say about this game. It's pretty hard and its another first person shooter like Call of Duty 2. The difference here is that stealth is the name of the game. You have to be sneaky a lot and you have tons of weapons with scopes and stuff. One of the best features is the ability to take cover behind objects, pop out and bust a cap in someones ass. The game is pretty rough, I'm only on level 4 (I got Dead or Alive 4 so I stopped playing this game for a little bit). The enemies are pretty intelligent too, they'll run around to make themselves harder to hit and take cover around objects to avoid your fire. I'm going to try and play this a little more this weekend. I'm sure once I get a better handle on the controls I'll be able to kick some butt in this one.

Well thats it in a nutshell. For professional reviews on all this stuff, I recommend Gamespot, IGN, or Teamxbox. If I don't blog a lot over the coming days, its because I'm having too much fun playing my games :)

It's been a while.......

Since I've put anything up on my blog. I've been out of the office for a good long time and I didn't feel like getting online and blogging about whats been going on. So now that I'm back and it's pretty close to my lunch break, I thought I'd give an update.

I recently went on a trip to Hawaii to visit my father, that was fun and I got to eat real Chinese food for once. I have pics from my trip on previous posts so I won't bother reciting what I did. What was significant to me was the trip back. Never in my entire life have I ever wanted to get off a plane so bad. We hit major turbulance from Hawaii all the way to Texas. Thats around 3000 miles of just going up and down, up and down and watching everything on the plane shake. They even suspended food service for most of the flight because the pilot told the flight attendants to stay in their seats. It almost made me swear off of flying for a while but I have another trip to take in January but its only like 2000 miles to NY so that should be fine.

Christmas was pretty good this year. I went to South Florida to see my wife's family and to exchange gifts. I went to midnight mass as well although I didn't stay for the whole thing, just the important parts. I'm still slightly weirded out that people hold hands during the Our Father part of the Mass. I don't know if its because I'm from the Northeast or something but I have this thing about holding hands in Church, just don't do it with me!! Stay away!! LOL My gifts this year were super sweet and I got the best ones from my wife of course. She was kind and generous enough to get me an Xbox 360!! Whoohoo! I also have 4 games to keep me occupied. I'm actually almost done with one, started 2 more and have to finally start the 4th. I have Kameo: Elements of Power, Dead or Alive 4, Call of Duty 2, and Project Gotham Racing 3. I'll probably go into each of them in some other post of mine when I get bored.

After Christmas I headed home with my wife. I had the rest of the week off because my company was awesome and gave us from Dec 23-Jan 2 off from work. So what did I do with my time off? Play video games of course!! My hands hurt from playing so much but its been fun as hell too. I even got a new game for my GameCube that was given to me from my Secret Santa called Mario Power Strikers (its a soccer game) that my wife and I play a lot since we can play against the computer together.

New Years wasn't that eventful, basically stayed up till midnight at home and toasted the new year with some Champaigne.

I saw a couple of movies too during my break. I forget what the first one was but it was a flick that my wife chose since it was her turn. I chose to see King Kong and I have to say that it was pretty good. There were some parts that were just outright nasty but the movie certainly didn't feel like it was 3 hours long.

Now I'm back to the grinder toiling away like always. Here's to another year of fun in Floriduh! Good thing I'm going up north in 2 weeks, I get to have some Garden Catering maybe and if I can swing it, yet more Chinese food :)

Picture perfect sunset

Yet another picture that I took today while walking on Waikiki beach. I should sell this as a post card and make a mint. Then I can retire before I'm 30! Posted by Picasa

Ahh Waikiki

I took this particular photo on the top of Diamond Head crater. It only took about 45 minutes to an hour to climb up to the top and the view was awesome. It wasn't full out sunny so I didn't roast on the way up. I have lots more pics when I was on the top but I'll post them later on. Posted by Picasa

Chicken Anyone?

I saw these wild chickens roaming around the mountain I was on today while I was taking pictures ......... mmm dinner........ Posted by Picasa

Ahh Hawaii

I just took this picture today, looks pretty sweet eh? I forget the name of the lookout where I took this but I just thought the picture was bad ass enough to post. I'll be posting more as I take them and find a way to get online. Posted by Picasa

Sucky tech support

I have PSP video converter software and I can't seem to get it to work right. I've been able to rip one successful movie but the others haven't come out so hot so I contacted tech support for the software I bought (yes I acutally paid for it). I have come to the realization that I might actually know more about the software settings and what not than the tech people that are sending me emails.

I quote:
"Sometimes a wrong frame rate can cause sync problem. Please change another frame rate in "Input Settings" window."

Now, I know what the frame rate is, I know where to select it and change it, but umm how about some stinking advice on what the actual frame rate should be genius?? That might be slightly helpful than telling me to waste my time fiddling with the frame rate value and just attempt burn after burn of the same frackin movie. Morons! If I managed that tech support department I'd fire everyone and start from scratch!

Monday night TV stinks

I was cruising through Yahoo TV listings for my cable carrier and there isn't one thing that I want to watch tonight. Over 60 channels and not 1 thing I want to watch, thats total crap right there. I'm going to have to dig deep into the DVD collection and pull out something thats half way decent that I can stay awake to.

PSP Movies, sooo CLOSE!

This entire weekend I've been experimenting with ways to convert my DVD's to PSP movies. About a month ago I bought software from Xilisoft to attempt to make the movies for PSP with limited success. I still have problems with the sound syncing with the movie itself and it doesn't matter what I try using Xilisoft so far.

Last night I tried something new and I have to see if it worked later today since I let it run over night. I used DVD Decrypter to get the VOB file(took about half an hour), then I used something called Auto Gordian Knot to make the movie into an AVI file(this took about 2 hours). The movie and sound seemed to sync up so that was a good thing. I then used Xilisoft PSP Video Creator to take the AVI and make it into an MP4 file so I can view it on my PSP(I don't know how long this took, I ran it over night and had Shutdown Monster set to turn off my PC at 2AM). I have to transfer it to the PSP later tonight when I get home. I'm hopeful that this worked because then I'm gonna rip a few more videos so I can see them on my trip to Hawaii.

The Shutdown Monster

As much as I like Windows XP, there is one thing that I hate and thats the shut down sequence. I have found that if you don't close every application before you shut down, the thing just sorta hangs there and asks you a bunch of times to save your work or to shut something down before hand. NO MORE!!

I found this sweet program called Shutdown Monster that I've been using for the past month and I freakin love the thing. It has a bug or two when you want it to hide itself in the system tray but other than that, its pretty sweet. I can set it up to close everything down for me without all the save prompts and what have you, or I can set it on a timer or specify a time for my PC to shut off (very useful when ripping DVD's to PSP). Now if they would only put that sort of function in Windows Vista..............

TV sucks badly

It's Thursday night and there is absolutely NOTHING to watch on basic cable. I have over 70 channels and not one of them is playing anything good. What they need to do is develop some classic 80 and 90's cartoon channel so I can at least have the option of watching something like Silver Hawks, Duck Tales, Tiny Toons, or Animaniacs. Why should I be paying for CRAP on TV??? Humbug!! Not even Tivo can fix this.............

Girls = Evil

I got this from my friend Luu's blog, its just too funny!

" First we state that girls require time and money
Girls = Time x Money
And as we all know "time is money"
Time = Money
Therefore
Girls = Money x Money =(Money)2
And because "money is the root of all evil"
Money = square root of "evil"
Therefore
Girls = (square root of "evil")2
And we are forced to conclude that: Girls = "Evil "

Cats in heat

Let me be clear on this, these two cats do not belong to me. They actually belong to my sister in law. She just recently got the gray one (the current name is Silver but it'll change soon) and the orange one is her original cat Tigger.

Tigger is neutered but Silver isn't spayed so I'm think something clicked in his mind when he sniffed Silver's butt or something and he started going at it with her. The pics tell it all and the expression on Tiggers face in the second picture is CLASSIC!

The blue screen of death

Everyone who's ever used Windows knows of this magical screen. It's big, its bad, its blue, and very cryptic. All you know is that you have to restart your computer and pray it doesn't happen again. I just got one trying to view game footage on Teamxbox.com. Thats the first time in months that I've actually had to experience that. Things seem better but are they??? Hence the mystery that is the blue screen of DEATH!! Only time will tell......................

Weekend Movie Craziness

Thanksgiving weekend is really long and to pass some of the time I saw two movies with my wife and in-laws. Of course we just had to see Harry Potter 4. I'll admit that it was a good movie but I for some reason I still think that the first and second movies were better. I wanted to see some of the Quidditch World Cup but that was sliced out of the movie, and some of the back ground story wasn't as strong but thats just my personal opinion. All in all a good movie and I'll get it on DVD to complete my collection of Potter films.

I also saw Just Friends which was freakin funny as hell. Thats definately one movie I'll probably be getting on DVD. It has Ryan Reynolds (Van Wylder) in it and he was able to make the movie really funny. The fact that he lip syncs the song "I Swear" by All 4 One in the beginning and end of the movie is almost too funny to watch. Now I have to wait and see if there are any other movies that will be worth watching in the next few weeks as Christsmas fast approaches.

Day after Thanksgiving maddness!

The day after Thanksgiving is the day that everyone has great sales and everything but I hae to wonder whether or not its worth it. Nit only is it way crowded, you have to get up early so the stuff you want isn't sold out by 8am. Almost all the stuff I'm going to be buying is online so I don't have to be too concerned about not finding what I need to get. And if I have to pay a little more and avoid the stores, hell why not!

Where the hell is it???

On a suggestion from my wife, I called up EB Games.com to find out when my Xbox 360 is shipping since there is no ship date on the website. The customer rep just told me that there is no ship date because they don't know when they're going to get more of the machines in. That just sucks balls right there but I'm a patient man, I can wait a little while longer. If I have to wait till 2006, then Houston, we'll have ourselves a big problem! I want my Xbox 360 NOW!

Xbox 360 Maddness

Last night I went to Target to get something with my wife and it was around 7:30 and there was a line forming outside to get an Xbox 360. My wife pre-ordered mine but its still at EB Games flaoting around somewhere since it was ordered online. I'm not that into video games that I'll wait my ass outside just to get one. I'll be patient and wait for mine to come in the mail :)

Freakin addicting

I got my wife a Sony PSP recently and got her a game called Lumines. It's kind of like Tetris but instead of lines you have to make blocks (basically line up 4 of the little squares into a box or rectangle) and its just as addicting as Tetris ever was. I am proud to say that for about 3 days I had the high score on the game until my wife kicked my ass (she's a Tetris Master). I'll have to practice so I can get the high score again even though it will probably take at least a month to beat her current high score :)

Beavis and Butt-head

Growing up, I didn't have cable TV but right now I'm watching the freakin movie and its too funny. I know plenty of people will call me dumb for liking this movie but if you check the IQ in my previous post, you'll see I am a genius :P I am CORNHOLIO!! I need TP for my bunghole........hahahaha CLASSIC!

I am the greatest.......IQ of 130!!!

Phew, the week is over!

This week was certainly a lively one. I had an offsite meeting for my company from Tuesday till Thursday which wasn't bad. The only crappy part was that I had to wake up early in order to go. That just totally threw my days off so I had to just take off Friday. I also bought my wife an early Christmas gift. It's not just for her, both of us can use it but it is mainly for her to use when we travel. I am talking about a mighty PSP! I broke down and actually bought a gaming system from Sony. I had a bias against Sony because their size and power destroyed my Sega Dreamcast. Oh and for the first time in I'd say almost 6 years, I was forced to buy software! How fucked up is that? I bought software that would convert DVD's to PSP formats so I can load them up on memory sticks so it can be watched on the PSP without having to buy a disc. Not a bad idea, its kind of time consuming but what can you do?

Anyway, my wife is up in CT for the weekend to attend her sisters bridal shower. I opted to stay here at home to convert more DVD's to PSP format so we can be ready for when we go to Fort Lauderdale for Thanksgiving. I also wanted to spend some time with my cats since I feel bad for leaving them home alone so often. Next week is a full week, then a short week because of Thanksgiving, oh how sweet it is!!

Happy Birthday Thumper :)

Although this photo is a month or so old, this is what my cat Thumper looks like right now. He's all of two years old so he's maybe in his mid 20's in people years. I've had Thumper since he was about 9 weeks old and he's grown a lot! I'll probably give him some extra treats for his b-day though :)

Ninja Gaiden is DONE!

I did it! I finally kicked the crap out of Ninja Gaiden. Now I have to find another game to beat up on. I got a few more unlockable treats in the game like a new costume and the Very Hard difficulty level. Only a few more days till Xbox 360 is here :)

Hurricanes bring out the "DUH" in people

I recently read this article in the St Pete Times detailing how people in South Florida were getting mad because the government wasn't fast enough giving free hand outs after Hurricane Wilma. According to the article, most of the people demanding the hand outs didn't even prepare properly for the hurricane in the first place and now they're blaming the government for not helping fast enough?? Thats a load of bullshit right there. If you know a hurricane is coming, you get yourself a shit load of supplies and fill up the gas tank of your cars a few days ahead of time. If that sucker is past a category 3 and you know its coming to hit you in the ass, you hop in your car and drive your ass FAR AWAY even if you have no place to stay, its better than being killed.

And I'm willing to bet that these same people that are getting these free supplies from the Feds are going to go ape shit when their taxes go up or something and then the'll complain about that. Now if they thought ahead they would realize that by getting all these freebies from the government, we run up the deficit even more which translates into higher taxes for all, not just the poor idiots that didn't prepare and are asking for hand outs. I can almost see Gov Bush contemplating an income tax to help pay for all the disaster relief and planning and I wouldn't blame him one bit for doing it because all this aid costs tons of money. I'm lucky that no really big hurricanes have hit Western Florida yet but if I see one coming, my wife and my cats are heading to CT!

More Foamy Maddness

Since I'm blocked from going to illwillpress.com at work, I had to go find a different site to get my Foamy Fix while I'm at the office. I went to friendsoffoamy.com and they have ALL of the episodes. How freakin cool is that? That squirrel cracks me up!!

They finally fixed it...... well mostly

After about 4 months, Verizon Wireless has gotten my phone bill right. Back in late June, I got a Treo 650 PDA/Cell Phone and I got a phone and data plan. This makes my cell phone bill pretty high all on its own but Verizon hit me with a HUGE billing error, like almost $800 for going over my data useage. After calling customer service about 4 times over the past 4 months, they finally reversed the charges. Now the only thing I have to get them to do is reverse the charges for all the late fees I incurred. I still payed my bill on time, but I only paid the charges I truely owed. I'm not paying late fees on almost $800 that was wrongfully billed to me. Thats just horse crap right there! Hopefully they'll reverse those charges in the next couple of days and I can get to my regular billing cycle again.

It's still working!

Praise be to the Scat Mat! I heard my older cat meowing a little this morning but not nearly as much as he used to when he could just sit at my door and try and get me to come outside. Ahhh what a peaceful sleep I had.

On the Ninja Gaiden note, I'm about half way through level 15. I cheated and went on GameSpot and read the game guide to figure out where I was. Maybe by this weekend I'll be able to get through level 15 and on to the final level for some serious ass whoopin booyah!!

All hail the Scat Mat!

For those of you that know me, you know I have two cats. My older cat Thumper I've had for almost a year longer than my younger cat Nala. Since I basically raised Thumper, he identifies me as his primary playmate a lot of the time (especially at night). He recently took up scratching my bedroom door at night and I've tried a lot of ways to stop it. Spraying him seemed to not work, putting double sided tape didn't do any good either, and locking him in the bathroom or cat carrier wasn't very nice either since it restricted his freedom. So I looked around and found the Scat Mat. Some people might think its cruel but it only restricts him from scratching my bedroom door. What it is, is a shock mat. It just gives him a slight jolt, like static electricity to keep him away from the door. I tried it for the first time last night and it seems to be working so far. He hasn't meowed or attempted to scratch the door. I did find him this morning resting just beyond the mat. Nala seems to be steering very far from the mat, she probably got shocked sometime last night as well and knows to stay away. Hopefully it will keep on working and I'll get a good nights sleep :)

New Rochelle Humane Society Trip

This past weekend while I was home I went to the New Rochelle Humane Society with my friend Lucy. Lucy wants to get a cat but somehow couldn't get to the humane society so I decided to "make" her go. There were tons of cats there up for adoption but there weren't too many kittens. We saw one that she liked but it escaped from its cage when we opened it and hid under the cages so it was hard to determine if it was very friendly or not.

One of the funnier things that happened were two black cats that were outside when we were leaving. These two were just hanging around and not doing anything in particular. Lucy yells at them to turn around and they actually did it which surprised me. I went up to one and told it to sit and lo and behold it sat down. Those little buggers were pretty smart. Too bad they were having a grand old time afterwards rolling around in the dirt. Hurry up and get your damn cat Lucy!! That deer skin in your basement is the perfect scratching post :P

WTF

For the first time since I can remember, I actually missed a flight. I was on a 4:55 flight home and I missed it because of traffic!!! First there was nasty traffic on the Hutch all because people were watching someone on the other side of the road change their freakin tire. Thats just bullshit right there. Then, after getting over the Whitestone, there was a rediculous amount of traffic going towards JFK airport. Most of the traffic that caused the "Heavy Delay" was because people were going to the Bruckner Expressway. Whoever designed the route to JFK must have been totally retarded or something. Next time I'm leaving at least three hours before departure if I'm flying out of NY.

Dim Sum Trip

Today I went to Hartsdale NY to get some dim sum from one of my favorite chinese place. It has been quite a long time asince I've had good chinese let alone dim sum. Now there is a reason right there to go back to the North East.

The trip to Hartsdale was pretty cool. The trees are really colorful going down the Merrit Parkway. As much as I like it here, it would be difficult to come back because everything is so expensive. At least I still have the option to visit every once in a while. Tomorrow I'm going cat shopping with my italiano cousin Lucy (shes not my real cousin but she made me an honorary italian and her cousin haha) and I'm going to have dinner with the best man (Tiny) and maid of honor (Jazzy) from my wedding. Sunday I shall return home to my wonderful wife and evil cats.

Sleeping In

I'm at my mom's house till Sunday and this morning was the first time that slept in past 8am. Even when I didn't have my two cats I was never able to sleep in really without waking up early. It must be something about sleeping in my old bed or something. Anyway, I'm freezing my nuts off in CT because of the after effects of hurricane Wilma bringing in a nice cold front from Canada. BRRR......

Bring on the sunshine

Hurricane Wilma has finally finished kicking Floida's ass and has gone back to being a Category 3 hurricane out in the Atlantic. Just by watching it on the radar I can tell that I'm in for a really wet time up in CT since it'll be lingering off the coast of NY or so by the time I get there. On the bright side though, not only did I not have work, now its really really sunny outside. Of course I have nothing to do that would entail me actually going outside so I'm going to stay in and finish creating backups for my computer and what not. Doesn't that sound absolutely exciting? I might break down and finish a level of Ninja Gaiden later on. It's already 4pm! Hopefully tomorrow won't be too busy so I can relax. Thanks for the day off Wilma!

Welcome to Floriduh Hurricane Wilma!!

Hurricane Wilma actually came to Florida (South Florida though, I'm in West) so the most that I'm getting right now are a lot of tornado warnings, maybe some storm surge, and tropical storm force winds but other than that I'm pretty much OK. I get to stay home today since the office is closed but I do have to work from home while I'm here so that means I have to fire up my laptop and do some *snicker* work. My wife wasn't as lucky though, her pea brained bosses had their employees come into work even though all the government offices are closed down, there's no shipping leaving the city, and all the schools are closed. These people are just way too greedy. I would take great delight in watching their company burn up in smoke but I guess that won't be happening anytime soon. I'm probably heading to work tomorrow but thats alright, at least I got today off :)

Sunday, October 23, 2005

Thank you Wilma!

Thanks to the lovely category 2 hurricane bearing down on Florida, I don't have to go to work tomorrow. I do however have to work from home but it beats going to the office any day. Bring it on bitch!! I'm here in Tampa waiting for ya!! :P

Cool Wilma Picture

I got this image from Accuweather. I think its one of the best pics I've ever gotten of a storm. Check out where the eye is on this bad boy, its freakin HUGE! This is going to be one crazy storm when it swings over to Florida. Posted by Picasa

Preparing for a hurricane

Since I postponed my trip to CT to see my mom, I went out with my wife last night to get some supplies. We headed over to our super market which wasn't even that busy to pick up snack food and what not (basically things that will keep till next year). There was plenty of it left on the shelves which surprised me. Then we went to the drink aisle and there was basically no water left on the shelves. HA! The whole store is packed with food but all the water supplies and parmalat milk just vanished. No big deal, I have a filter on my tap at home and have lots of containers to fill with water.

Next stop was Sports Authority. Last year we were fortunate enough to not lose power. Right now the hurricane isn't even projected to come close to Tampa but you never know until the day before so we bought a camping stove with two burners on it. Now I think I'm all set. I'm not too worried about flooding of my apartment because I'm on the 3rd floor, I'm more worried about my car being washed away or something like that.

You gotta be freakin kidding me!! Another Hurricane!

This is a lovely picture of Hurricane Wilma. You can't really see it but right now its off the coast of Mexico but all the strike probablilities show it heading towards Florida in the next few days. Here's the freakin problem, I'm not even going to be here when the hurricane strikes and right now its a Category 5 with 175mph winds. Thats just crazy right there!!

Update: I'm not leaving town after all, I'll go on vacation next week instead and stay here with my wife until the hurricane blows over. I guess its time to stock up the fridge with tons of non perishable stuff again and get some gas for the car......... mmmmmm SPAM!

Going back to CT

Wednesday night I shall be making my return to CT for my mom's birthday. I'm only going to be around till Sunday afternoon but that should be enough time spent up north. I probably won't be able to see any of my friends that I have up there but I can catch them on another trip up to CT since my sister in law is getting married sometime in January. I'm going to try and get my wife's digital camera so that I can take pics while I'm up there. Yay fall leaves!!

The evil door scratcher

My older cat Thumper has recently taken up door scratching as a new method of annoying me in the mornings. He started doing this after I returned from LA. Where he picked this up I have no idea since he never used to do it before. I have had to resort to putting him in the bathroom at night so he won't wake up me and my wife in the mornings with the scratching. However he is consistant, he normally starts his scratching around 7am unless he happens to be really bored, then he tries it around 2am.

Ninja Gaiden Maddness

I've started playing Ninja Gaiden again for Xbox in the hopes that I can beat it in the next couple of weeks. I played it again for the first time in months just yesterday and I really had to get back into the swing of things. I totally forgot how most of the controls worked and since I was in one of the later levels I was getting my butt kicked pretty hard. After practicing for about 30 minutes I figured out how to whoop at least a little butt again with some obvious help called NINJA MAGIC!! I killed the level 12 boss with nothing but Lightning Ninja Magic rather than the tried and true hack and slash. I'm getting better as I play and I might even play more tonight but we'll see.

Halo 2 is DONE!

Yeah baby! I just beat Halo 2 for Xbox so now I can start working on yet another game of mine. Probably Ninja Gaiden although that game is super ass tough and I havn't even touched it in months. Hopefully I won't get my ass kicked or anything. Damn it feels good to ifnall y beat that game.

Talk about cheap pictures

I'm heading up to my mom's place next week and she requested pictures from my wedding. I decided to give Walgreens.com a try since I remember seeing something about uploading pics to them and then having the ability to print them out at a local Walgreens and pick them up. I tried it today and I have to say that it was pretty painless and was relatively fast. Not to mention they were only charging $0.19 a print and because it was my first time using them I got 10 prints for free. Now thats what I call kick ass. All in all, I only had to spend less than five bucks. You can bet I'm gonna print pics from them again.

I'm done with Jade Empire!

I finally beat the RPG game Jade Empire for Xbox today while I was home telecommuting for work. It only took me an extra half hour to whoop some ass and actually defeat the game which was pretty good. I think I got back into it because of the show Firefly which has a slightly asian theme to the show and the characters sometimes speak Chinese (this kind of bothers me but its on syndication so its not on all that often). With the release of the Xbox 360, I feel this urge to finish a few more of my games now. I still have a few more things to beat in Burnout Legends, Halo 2, and Ninja Gaiden. These are the main games that I would like to beat but if I have time I might play others like whats on my GameCube.

Winamp 5.1

For all you old school MP3 collectors out there, I'm sure most of you remember Winamp or maybe even use Winamp. I remember getting hold of Winamp when I was in college and it was the best MP3 player ever (still is although I have to use MediaMonkey to sync songs to my iPod). I still use it at home to listen to music and even use it here at work. I was slightly disappointed when Nullsoft (thats who made Winamp way back when) was bought up by AOHell and then sorta dropped by the wayside after they completed 5.0. There have been numerous bug releases and stuff but it wasn't worth the upgrade. However they have released 5.1 and now they actually have live streaming audio from AOL XM radio which is really cool. I normally listen to ShoutCast stations at work but this adds a ton more stations for me to listen to. I might try and experiment with the iPod plugin for Winamp one of these days if they work out some of the bugs.

For those of you that are REALLY old school, you might remember a little app called WinPlay, now thats taking MP3's truely old school for those of you that downloaded music in '96 hahaha

The internet is so boring

I've been on the net for a while now and I've come to realize that a lot of the free stuff thats on the net is pretty boring. I remember hooking up my 486 to a 19.2 modem and firing that bad boy up to get email using Netscape 3.0 and surfing the web too. I hit a few sites daily like the NY Times and CNN (CNN hasn't changed much since 1996). I have more email accounts scattered on the web than I can even remember but some things have stayed constant like my Screen Names and one of my email addresses. Other than that, the net is just really really boring........... there's only so much news that you can read or emails you can write............ blah!

Leftovers for Lunch

Today I ate my lunch in 11 minutes. Not a record for me but thats still pretty fast considering I normally get an hour or so for lunch but I also eat at my desk so its a "working" lunch. Todays lunch was pretty good, it was left overs from dinner last night that my wife made for us. Chicken tenders with tabasco sauce and mashed potatos. The thing thats missing, which was included in last nights meal, was the corn on the cob. My wife makes corn on the cob SO GOOD! She adds the right amount of butter, salt, and pepper which makes it almost irresistable that I always end up wanting more but she limits us to one a piece. Topping off the lunch is my Arizona Ice tea with Raspberry flavor added. She brought me candy from her job but I forgot to pack it so no afternoon snack for me. Too bad, they were NERDS!! Now I just have to go through the rest of the day and then go home and relax and update my iPod with some new songs. *yawn*

I have my new hard drive!!

Yesterday I finally got back a hard drive from Seagate. It's a refurbished drive but it works and thats what really matters. I noticed that the drive actually came all the way from Singapore which is a bit far. I completed the extremely fun task of moving all my data from my primary hard drive to my storage drive. My primary was a 60 gig drive and only had 6 gigs free and was running like there was peanut butter stuck in between the drive plates. After I moved it over to the 160 gig storage drive, my PC began running like a champ again :)

Disappointing

Well this year the Yankees lost in the Division series and not the championship series. I guess I can be happy that they made the playoffs at all with the terrible record they accumulated during the regular season. Since the Yankee's are out of the running, my time with baseball this year is at an end. I guess no Mariano Rivera jersey for me this year. I don't think I'll get another jersey until they win another world series.

Monday, October 10, 2005

All tied up!

The Yankees were able to tie up the ALCS with the Angels last night so tonight everyone flies out to LA to duke it out for the right to kick some White Sox ass. Mike Mussina will take the mound tonight and if the Yankee bats wake up early, it should be a nice victory into the AL championship series. Winning the world series this year would be absolutely awesome and maybe I'll treat myself to a new jersey or something :)

Yankee Game Tonight, ALCS Game 4

Tonight the Angels are playing the Yankees in Game 4 and the Yankee's are facing elimination. The only satisfying fact in the event that the Yankee's lose is that Boston lost first and got swept badly. Right now the Yankee's have a fighting chance so I'm going to cheer for them while I watch the Soprano's on DVD. Go Yankees!!

Red Sox Lose!

Last year was just a fluke, the Bambino is back in full effect as the Red Sox lose to the White Sox. Now its NY's chance to get back the world series crown, their first since 2000. To read all about it, go here!

I'd blog but........

my week was so "ordinary" that I have nothing to blog about, how freakin sad is that?!?

MMMM Marble Slab

My wife and I got a quart of cheesecake ice cream with strawberries (my favorite from that place) and I had some last night and it was soooo good. The strawberries were a bit hard but thats alright. Still, the place is freakin awesome, I should open my own with wifi access and make a ton of money and retire by 35.

X05

So what exactly is X05?? Why its only the MS Xbox 2005 game convention that Microsoft holds to show off all thats new and bad ass on the Xbox front. I read a lot of stuff on Gamespot.com and they always have good coverage. I'm in the market for a new 360 and this conference should shed light on a ton of new games and the launch titles. Can't wait to see the screen shots and movies that will come out of this booyah!!

Firefly

My wife and I are now hooked on this show after seeing the movie Serenity. It's a pretty damn good show. Too bad there were only a few episodes made for it before it was canceled. I don't think this show can make a comeback like Family Guy did but you never know. I would tell you which characters probably wouldn't be back on the show but then I'd ruin the movie for those of you that want to see it. And I do recommend seeing it, its too funny in some spots.

Already a bad start

This morning I got off to a bad start. I was in traffic for almost an hour and there was no reason for it. From the moment I hit the Home Depot near my apartment, I was doing around 10mph in stop and go traffic. That is just totally un-acceptable in my book especially when I have a history of going at least 40 with a free sprints of 60 as I get closer to work. Nope not today, not even an accident to justify people going hella slow. This better not be an omen of how the rest of today is going to go or else I'm gonna be so pissed.

Serenity

I just saw the movie Serenity this weekend and I have to say that it was quite good. It was pretty funny and it kept my wife's interest which surprised me since this is a scifi movie and she normally doesn't like this kind of stuff. This movie basically wraps up the TV series Firefly which I have Tivo'd but haven't watched yet. I'll watch those at some point this week.

Tomorrow is another day of work.......... oh yay!
